This Thermal Stability and Self Heating Test Instrument can determine whether the substance will be oxidized and self heated by placing it in a 25 mm or 100 mm cubic steel mesh container and exposing it to the air at 100 ºC, 120 ºC or 140 ºC; It can also be used to test the stability of the substance under high temperature conditions to determine whether the substance is too dangerous to transport. The instrument can detect the self heating of the sample at 75 ºC for 48 hours, and determine whether the test sample emits heat when the temperature is kept at 75 ºC by detecting the temperature difference between the test sample and the inert reference. It is applicable to explosive substances, desensitized explosive substances, self reactive substances and organic peroxides.
The Thermal Stability and Self Heating Test Instrument conforms to 33.3.1.6 Test N.4: Test methods for self heating substances in the United Nations Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods - Manual of Tests and Standards and GB/T 21612 Test Methods for Self heating of Flammable Solids of Dangerous Goods; It conforms to 13.6.1 Test 3 (c): 75 ºC thermal stability test in the UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods - Manual of Tests and Standards and EN 13631-2:2002 Civil Explosives - High Explosives - Part 2: Determination of Thermal Stability of Explosives.
